Copy/Paste
1. first, obviously, I downloaded the zip file for my camera.
2. I extracted the BOOTDISK.BIN file to my desktop (just easier to work with there).
3. I downloaded the bootable.zip file from here:
ewavr.nm.ru/chdk/
4. Extracted the bootable.zip file to my desktop (you can ignore the .c file in it.
5. I low-level formatted my SD card in camera (Menu/Setup/Format and then make sure Low level is checked)
6. I removed my SD card from my camera and inserted it into my reader.
7. I copied the bootable.exe file to my SD card.
8. I opened a command prompt window (start/all programs/accessories/command prompt in winxp) and logged into the drive my card was on (in my case it was i

9. I typed bootable i: and answered yes to the prompt. There is no other info shown after it does it's thing.
10. I copied my DISKBOOT.BIN file to my i: drive (your drive letter may be different).
11. If the card is then inserted as is, it will not boot from it. The card MUST be set to read only by flicking the read only slider on the side of the card (it's small, so look carefully) to read only. Don't worry, the camera will still write the pictures to the card.
12. Insert the card after setting to read only and start your camera either by selecting record or review mode (it will always go to review mode when the CHDK program boots, just slide it back to record mode).
13. You'll see a blue box show that it is a particular build and then your screen will show some extra info. Use this link
chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_firmware_usage/AllBest to learn how to use the program. Our version does not have the Special Build menu in the Misc menu. And may not have all options.
EDIT: I changed the firmware usage link to go to AllBest's since our CHDK is based on his firmware.
I tried the aperture override and set it to 11 and it worked.
BE WARNED: Do not over extend your camera. If you don't know if it can handle the setting you are attempting, do not use the setting. There is ambivilence from Canon on the warranty status of our camera from use of this program. Be careful. Normal use of the program like RAW and small overrides and such are okay.
If, after some time, you wish to stop using the program, simply set your card to writeable and it won't load until it is set back to read only.
This entire process will need to be done to each and every SD card you have. Also, I am unsure of the ability to do any of this with SDHC cards. Also, if you format your SD card in any way either through the camera or your computer, you will need to reinstall CHDK as above.
Bear in mind, this is not a permanent update to your camera's firmware, but a temporary and non-destructive addition to it. Once the SD card is formatted or set to writeable, the program no longer runs and the camera functions as it was before the program was loaded.
la verdad no me atrevo ni cagando...
consulta... si hago loq dice la guia, tengo q usar el raw obligatoriamente o puedo elegir la opcion jpg tambien..
